We invite you to an overnight trek to Alang and Madan on 10th and 11th of December 2011, starting on 9th Night.


Trivia
Height : Alang- 4500ft; Madan- 4900 ft above msl
Grade : Difficult (Technical)
Base Village : Ambewadi

As Britishers destroyed the stairs to these forts, scaling theses forts have become the biggest challenge since then. Alang enjoys a 70 ft straight rock patch graded the most difficult as compared to the other forts while Madan bears a 40 ft rock patch comparatively easier.
Besides the thrill in ascending the forts they also provide mesmerizing view of the surrounding area. Back waters of the Bhandardara Dam, Ghatghar Dam, Ratnagad, Kulang, Kalsubai, Aunda patta Bitangad, Ajoba.... are few to mention.

06.00pm : Reach the cave, dinner and retire for the day

Trek to Bhairavgad on 4th of December 2011

We invite you to an adventurous trek to Bhairavgad (Moroshi) on 4th of December 2011


Trivia

Height : 2835 ft above msl
Grade : Difficult (technical)
Base Village : Malshejghat Moroshi

The prominent wall that stands tall in front of the Malshejghat range is the Bhairavgad.
Owing to the strategic location, it served as the watch tower guarding then extensively in use trade route the Malshej ghat.
The entrance of the fort was destroyed by British and hence now to scale it one has to overcome a rock patch. Above the patch rock cut steps leads one to the top of the fort. The steps are also tricky and face exposure at places one has to be very careful throughout.

The top is a small flat on which there is cactus overgrowth. Heavy wind blows here almost in every season.
The view of the Naneghat Range and the forts in Malshejghat like Harishchandragad, Sindola ect is the experience of life time.

Base Village : Palu (Amboli - Durgawadi)

Durga and Dhakoba are the two prominent peaks on the huge plateau spread between Jivdhan and Ahupe.

Places to Visit

Durga Fort :
Durga is a small fort with no remnants just a hill with many stones lying atop. At the base of the fort there is a small temple of Ma Durga.

Dhakoba :
Being the highest point on the plateau Dhakoba offers commanding view of the surrounding. One can spot, Naneghat, Jivdhan, Durga, Ahupe, Gorakhgad from here.
The main thrill is the view of the straight falling cliffs in the konkan area.

Darya Ghat / Amboli Ghat :This is one of the ancient pass connecting Amboli village of the Ghat with the Palu village in Konkan.
This is one of the most used passes from years to reach Konkan in less time than the motorable road. Being still in use it’s a wonderful trek as well. We will be descending to Palu via Amboli Ghat.

Trek to Vasota & Nageshwar on 12th and 13th of November 2011

We invite you to an overnight trek to Vasota and Nageshwar on 12th and 13th of November 2011, starting on 11th Night.


Trivia:
Type : Jungle Fort
Height : 4267 ft approx
Region : Koyna wildlife Santuary
Grade: Easy - Medium ( Endurance )
Base Village : Met Indivali - Chorwane

Situated amidst the evergreen forest of Koyna Wild Life Sanctuary vasota offers the best experience of a Jungle trek. Route till the fort from Met Indivali is all covered with huge trees and the liana spread over miles. The canopy offers the best site for spotting various species of butterflies and birds.
The sanctuary is home to a wide variety of animals Leopard, Sambar, Barking deer, Porcupines, Grey Junglefowls, Wild pig, Hanuman langur, Rhesus macaque and Flying Squirrel etc.

Places to Visit
Vasota Fort :
Entrance in the dilapidated state, remnants, Hanuman temple and mahadev temple are the only monuments still standing on the fort. but the plateau offers breath taking view of the thick forest and the Koyna Back Waters.

The Hill where Nageshwar Cave is situated can be seen from the Mahadev temple Machi.

From here one can observe both side the Ghat area as well as long drops in the konkan.

The most fascinating point is Babu Kada, from which offers spectacular view of the steep cliffs of the mountain range falling straight deep in the Konkan area. The mountain in front is known as Old vasota.

Nageshwar caves :
A walk of few miles across the ridge takes us to a pinnacle in which the Nageshwar caves are carved. The cave hosts Mahaved lingi and the miracle here to observe is a crack in the roof percolates water on the shiv lingi throughout the year even in dry seasons.

Instructions :
  •  Wear comfortable cotton clothing, carry sufficient warm cloths and proper bedding as it might be too cold  at night.
  •  Wear good grip providing comfortable shoes. ( in good condition should not tear during the trek )
