Who are we?
OFFBEAT SAHYADRI - A horde of outdoorsy fellas who are hit by the bug of curiosity just thought that they can do something. We call ourselves ‘The Offbeaters’.
One may think that there are scores of organizations already trying their luck at capturing the ‘market’ with some of them being really good at that by the virtue of their genuineness and hardwork. So where is the need for ‘another’ group? Well, let’s just say that we like to do things differently than doing different things! Ring a bell? Frankly friends, we shall not make any high promises or tall claims. All we are here to indulge into is pure fun with the necessary tadka of seriousness, in short – SERIOUS FUN guys! Well… it goes without saying that respect for Nature as a force unto herself is the precluding condition for such ventures. At OS we endeavour to continually imbibe and maintain this basic premise on which any outdoor activity organization is and should be based.
Our primary idea is to tread on lesser known and unexplored routes in the vast stretches of the great Sahyadri. This range is no less than a wonder and land of Maharashtra is indeed blessed to have such a great mountain range on its expanses! To find out the unbeaten trails, to go on pilot treks on such routes, to plan it out for a group, to share and care for each other, to survive the mountain… the fun is hidden somewhere in between these. Why us?
Curiosity has driven man’s imagination since times unknown fuelling a chain reaction which has resulted into the world that we know today. It is the same curiosity that drives us at offbeat sahyadri. One may say what is so different between one boulder and another, one jungle and another, one route and another… it is all trekking at the end of the day. But then going back to this instinctual quality that nature has bestowed us with – curiosity, it cannot be denied that one who discovers something unknown until then experiences untold bliss and satisfaction. It is indeed a sublime experience if not diluted by stray feelings of pride and vanity. We at offbeat sahyadri aim exactly at this. To take you through that bliss and satisfaction while acknowledging how small we are in the scheme of nature.
People call them rules we call it minimization of inconvenience
Just like curiosity, taking calculated risks is in our genes. Most wanderbugs will agree that there is a certain minimum risk taking involved in outdoor activities. It is entirely up to us to decide the extent to which we will go. At the same time we must also realize that when it is a group thing, one’s fate is tied to the group’s fate and hence individuality takes a back seat. It is here that we emphasize on keeping the group closely bound together throughout the activity. And here the role of a facilitator cannot be overemphasized. Based on these thoughts we propose that an adventurous outdoor activity can be risky and safe, fun and demanding… all at the same time.
